My PhilosophY of Education
If you do what you love, you'll never work a day in your life.
- Marc Anthony
Teaching is more than just a way to pay my bills. It is a huge part of who I am and the person I want to be. My goal as an educator is not to see high test scores but to inspire my students to find their passion and develop it further; whatever that may be. I want to lead by example, through my own passions, to give students the confidence to follow the direction of their dreams. I love seeing students improve, grow, succeed and develop their creativity. As a female teacher, I also strive to inspire the young women in my class to be confident and self-respecting individuals by developing mentoring relationships with them. As a physical education teacher, I want to develop a love of movement and activity in my students by creating fun and interesting lessons for them to participate in.

Service Above Self - Rotary Award
I was grateful to be one of the recipients of this award at the Rotary Club this year. In receiving my award, I had some time to reflect on what "serving above self" means to me. I think that this award really captures my philosophy of education and teaching. I did not become a teacher to do the bare minimum and go home at 3 pm each day. I wanted to coach, be involved in clubs, and get to know students in meaningful ways through trusting relationships. I know that this award, really, represents all of the students who work with me and play on the teams I coach. Without the, this award would not have been given to me. Receiving this award was a terrific way to cap off my third year of teaching and a nice affirmation of the work that I am doing. Thank you!
