Educating in the 21st Century
21st Century Learning, in my mind, is pushing yourself to try new styles of teaching. WHY should this be done? For starters, the future that our students are preparing for is an upredictable, dynamic and rapidly-changing environment. We do not know what we are preparing them for, so we have to give them the skills to prepare them for anything. I heard a quote once that said "Prepare the child for the road, not the road for the child." This pretty much sums up WHY we need to engage with 21st century learning in our classrooms.

Inquiry Based Learning
Inquiry based learning has changed how I teach, not just on the surface, but foundationally. I have had a pedagogical shift in my practice and how I see my curriculum. i look for ways to link up with other core subjects and find ways to integrate real world problems or questions into my teaching. I am finding that this promotes empowerment and engagement in students in my classroom. Also, it has helped me form some terrific working relationships with other like minded colleagues! Win win. I presented at MPTC 2017 on this topic as well as at the Northern Regional Learning Consortium 2017 on High School Redesign. Those presentations are linked to the left.
