The Extras - The best part of teaching
CoachingI have always known that when I became a teacher, I would be a coach. I had such a great experience playing sports, that I want to give back to young people through physical activity. I have coached the following sports in the last four years:
- Jr. High girls volleyball
- Jr. High girls and boys basketball - Sr. High 1A girls volleyball - Jr. High Track and Field - Jr. High Soccer - Atomic Volleyball |
Social Justice Club"Be the change that you wish to see in the world" |
In March 2013, I saw Craig Keilburger speak at the MPTC about Free the Children. I was so inspired that the following Monday, I spoke to my homeroom class about how important this was to me. They were so pumped up after our discussion, they began the club that week. We raised money to build a clean drinking water well last year and this year we are raising money to build a school in our village in Kenya. I love this club and am so passionate about our campaigns and raising awareness about child poverty and slavery. It makes me so happy that we have, in our second year as a group, moved to a completely student run club. I am proud of the progree this group has made and the commitment the students have taken to becoming the change they want to see.

Student Convention 2014
In the 2013-14 school year, I took on organizing the St. Mary's Student Convention. I wanted to do this mostly because it is an AWESOME day that really inspires students to think about what they want to do after high school. This year (2014-15) am on an advising committee and aiding others in creating the convention this year.
St. Joseph's Rotary Interact Club
New to St. Joseph's School, I joined working with the Rotary group at the school. I have helped with local projects such as orchestrating a Saturday Supper with the Saint Lawrence Centre for the disadvantaged and homeless of our city. I am in a learning capacity this year, as this club is well established. I look forward to continuing my work with them in the future!
